The Windows 7 Sensor and Location platform provides a unified approach to how an application interacts with ambient data. The Sensor platform abstracts device drivers and exposes ambient data in a consistent API so that developers can readily interact with any type of sensor (such as ambient light sensors, temperature gauges, or GPS devices). The Location APIs build on the sensor data and provide physical location information (such as addresses or latitude and longitude).
