Microsoft might not have been the first to do this, SMILE in fact we (at my Calder Global Networks start-up) have been working on this for nearly two years at Calder Global Networks and I know of a few companies who are working on related technologies.

Some of you have mailed me and said, well this is science fiction.. Hardly true with the cloud offering supercomputing and distributed computing on a mass scale to the public this is now very possible..

In fact, the Gartner Group has predicted that "By 2015, 10 percent of your online "friends" will be nonhuman. Social media strategy involves several steps: establishing a presence, listening to the conversation, speaking (articulating a message), and, ultimately, interacting in a two-way, fully engaged manner. Thus far, many organizations have established a presence, and are mostly projecting messages through Twitter feeds and Facebook updates that are often only an incremental step up from RSS feeds. By 2015, efforts to systematize and automate social engagement will result in the rise of social bots — automated software agents that can handle, to varying degrees, interaction with communities of users in a manner personalized to each individual. “

Quoting their interview in TGDAILY : “Presently, Laura is extremely resource and compute intensive. According to Vance, "Laura requires a top-of-the-line chip with eight processor cores to handle all of the artificial intelligence and graphics work needed to give the system a somewhat lifelike appearance and function. Such a chip would normally sit inside a server in a company's data center."

Calder Global Networks technology is device friendly and does not thanks to the cloud…

We are not ready to show our work off completely at our Calder Global Networks start-up. In fact in business being first usually means you are on the “bleeding edge” of things and often don’t survive, plus we feel this technology can do more than even Microsoft is doing with it. . You’ll find out exactly why we feel this way when we do show off our work..

Our approach is not at all like Microsoft’s, but this really cool work by Microsoft Research is certainly a validation of the direction the industry is headed by 2015..

Good work Microsoft China! They certainly have the good press for it too..

Calder Global Networks Interactive Persona Consumer Technology (*not research*)

If you haven’t been following what Calder Global Networks has been working on you might remember some of our prototype video from last year..

Here are some pictures and test video from our original Calder Interactive Persona rigging work..

By the way here is our universal friend finder prototype from over a year ago now.. Our working prototype works with our Calder Interactive Persona Technology unlike other “friend-finder” technologies..

Now here is Microsoft Research’s vision…
