Big questions about Windows Phone 7 updates and the stone wall of non-answers..
According to intomobile’s Kelly Hodgkin’s article (their editor) :
“Chris Walsh of Chevron WP7 fame has developed a new method that lets any Windows Phone user install the latest NoDo update to his or her handset. Microsoft released a support tool for Windows Phone that can be modified to force a handset to update to the pre-NoDo (#7008) and NoDo updates all in a single process. It will work across carriers and manufacturers so this is a party that all Windows Phone 7 owners can join.”
This brings up several serious questions:
1) Why hasn’t Microsoft HIRED Chris Walsh ? Seems like he has done more quicker to fix the problem than both Microsoft and the carrier with the device problems.
2) If he can do this why can’t folks at Microsoft and AT&T do this and get this update out..
3) Why isn’t Microsoft and ATT taking advantage of the community solution and get this out the door ?
Many people who own Samsung Focus devices are incredibly upset at how this debacle has progressed.. Many folks were told before purchasing this generation of phone that updates would never be a problem like this with Windows Phone 7.
My blog gets out to about 8000 people a month. So, if AT&T and Microsoft are listening, isn’t it time to get your heads out of the “politics” of all this and do the right things by your customers and show all of us customers that this really is a new kind of phone and a new way of doing business for you folks.. It’s what your customers who have Apple iPhones and Google Android Phones expect from a Windows Phone if they want to move to your platform.. This is why people abandoned Windows Mobile in the first place (I was one of those customers)..
Editors Note: Fooled me twice now and made me look untruthful when recommending this product to others including a large audience who have asked me about it..
Obviously there really isn't a problem with the update if Walsh can fix this and AT&T and Microsoft can’t .. If AT&T's folks can't handle this, then they need to hire new people..
This is a black eye on what was so far a great start to a new platform..
